Academy coach Carlton Cole????
I’ve been a way but never saw that one coming??! When did this happen and why... what qualifications does he have? He juat can’t stay away from the club can he, either he dearly loves West Ham (suspect so, I applaude him) or he has found an easy living from us and it’s the easiest way to continue that.

he's part of the U18 coaching team, it you want someone that's stolen a living off the club look in the direction of Carroll

Carlton always tried his best, bless him, he just wasn't a very good player. I do remember him giving Vidic a nightmare one night it is just those sort of nights were few and far between.

He always gave 100% for us unlike many and cant fault his attitude but I'm not sure he's the best person to coach our young strikers in technique and skills

Good luck to him, you don’t need to be a great player to be a great coach, John Lyall and many more have proved that.

If we’d hired some academy product that had never played higher than League One no one would care. But we hire an England international and people complain that he wasn’t good enough.

Obviously jealous of the great man.

Good luck to him. If he is able to pass on the importance of giving your all, and the academy players take that on board, then it's good news.

Re: Academy coach Carlton Cole????
Say what you like about him he has been there and done it. Reached international level in the game.

I agree, a lot of what he achieved was down to pure and utter desire to do well; rather than relying on ability.

But at the end of the day, he made it, he did it. And he did at the highest level. He became a bit of a joke figure for a while which was a little unfair; but understandable.

As others said, if we had some bloke who had coached up through the lower leagues and then came to us that you'd never heard of nobody would bat an eyelid. Yet, we have a bloke who loves the club, lives the supporters and knows the pride you feel to play for us; and people slag him and the club off.

Carlton will teach the kids what they need to know but he will also teach them the importance of hard-work, graft and commitment which will be a good lesson for them.

I like Carlton. Exudes positivity. Better baller than credited. International. Club icon. If it doesn't work out, he'll still stick around to help. He'd probably clean the bogs if you gave him a tenner.

Let the CFC Academy begin!

Re: Academy coach Carlton Cole????
A player who actually played in some pretty awful sides and still chipped in with goals, more goals than a lot of our more recent and higher rated strikers. For a couple of seasons he was very good and earnt an England call up. Did pretty decent when he came on in them too.
His game deteriorated quickly towards the end of his career and that taints a lot of peoples opinions.
He has always had time for the fans, stays cheerful and positive despite some nasty abuse and that's to his credit.

If he teaches the young players that you can still achieve much if you work hard and keep yourself grounded even if you are not the most talented then that's a good thing. The guy made mistakes when younger, lost his money and realises the football career is short. For me he is a positive influence and it's good to have him around. Carton ' Fucking' Cole is part of West Ham as far as I'm concerned.
